Put the right controls around powerful access.
Identify weaknesses in identities, permissions and privileged accounts before they become a wider compromise. Cybergen helps you assess Active Directory, Entra ID and access practices across your organisation.
Illustrative example only, not live data
Reduce unnecessary privilege and identity exposure
A compromised account can give an attacker a starting point. Excessive permissions, standing administrative access and weak account lifecycle processes can make that starting point much more valuable.
We assess how access is granted, used, monitored and removed. The objective is to reduce unnecessary privilege, protect administrative activity and make identity controls easier to operate consistently across people, applications and infrastructure.
Powerful access should exist only when it is needed
Every always-on administrator account is an always-on target. Removing standing privilege shrinks the window an attacker can use, without slowing your teams down.
Administrator rights granted permanently, often to more people than need them. One stolen password unlocks everything, at any hour.
Rights granted for a task, approved where needed, recorded while in use and removed automatically afterwards. Stolen credentials are worth far less.
Attackers climb. We remove the ladder.
Most serious breaches involve an attacker escalating from an ordinary account to administrative control. Each control breaks a link in that chain.
Illustrative attack path
Six controls around your most powerful access
Cybergen designs, deploys and runs privileged access management that fits your environment, whether you need a full platform or more from the tools you already own.
Privileged account discovery
Find every administrator, service and emergency account across directories, servers, cloud and applications, including the ones nobody remembers creating.
- Domain and local admins
- Service and application accounts
- Cloud and SaaS admin roles
- Orphaned and shared accounts
Credential vaulting and rotation
Store privileged passwords and keys in an encrypted vault, inject them into sessions without revealing them, and rotate them automatically after use.
- Encrypted credential vault
- Check-out without disclosure
- Automatic rotation
- Emergency access with safeguards
Just-in-time and least privilege
Grant elevated rights only for an approved task and time window, then remove them automatically, so no account holds standing power.
- Time-bound elevation
- Approval workflows
- Zero standing privilege
- Least-privilege role design
Strong authentication for privileged users
Require phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication for privileged access, with risk-based step-up when something looks unusual.
- FIDO2 keys and smart cards
- Passwordless options
- Risk-based step-up
- Conditional access policies
Session brokering and recording
Route privileged sessions through a controlled gateway, monitor them in real time and keep recordings for investigation and audit.
- Brokered RDP and SSH sessions
- Real-time monitoring
- Searchable recordings
- Terminate risky sessions
Secrets for machines and DevOps
Remove hard-coded passwords, API keys and certificates from scripts and pipelines, and issue short-lived secrets to applications instead.
- API keys, SSH keys and certificates
- Dynamic short-lived secrets
- Pipeline and container integration
- Machine identity inventory
On-premises, cloud and everything between
Active Directory security assessment
Review agreed directory configuration, administrative practices, delegation and trust relationships. Identify weaknesses that could support privilege escalation or movement between systems.
- Tier 0 assets and delegation
- Trusts and Kerberos settings
- Group Policy and admin practices
Entra ID security assessment
Assess agreed tenant settings, role assignments, authentication controls and application access. Review where cloud identity practices create unnecessary exposure or depend on untested assumptions.
- Role assignments and admin units
- Conditional Access and MFA
- App registrations and consent
Privileged account discovery
Identify administrative, service and emergency access accounts. Establish ownership, purpose and whether the permissions remain necessary for the work performed.
Privileged access management
Assess options for limiting persistent privilege and controlling administrative activity. Consider approvals, time-bound access, credential protection and session oversight where the selected platform supports them.
Identity lifecycle and access reviews
Review joiner, mover and leaver processes and periodic access checks. Address dormant accounts, accumulated permissions and access that has outlived the original business need.
Hardening, monitoring and recovery
Prioritise identity changes and validate their operational impact. Review significant identity events, administrative recovery arrangements and how emergency access is protected and tested.
Privilege is not only human
Non-human identities often outnumber people and hold powerful, rarely reviewed access. We bring both under control.
Human identities
- Administrators and IT teams
- Helpdesk and support staff
- Third-party suppliers
- Break-glass emergency accounts
Machine identities
- Service accounts
- API keys and tokens
- SSH keys and certificates
- Automation and AI agents
Step by step to least privilege
Discover
Confirm identity platforms, important accounts and the services that depend on them.
Assess
Review agreed configurations, privileges and operational evidence.
Harden
Plan and support selected improvements with appropriate change control.
Validate
Check that changes reduce exposure while preserving required access and recovery.
What you receive
- An identity and privileged-access findings report for the agreed environments.
- A prioritised hardening plan with affected roles, dependencies and owners.
- Recommendations for access governance, privilege reduction and monitoring.
- A remediation workshop and an agreed validation plan for key changes.
Do we need a new PAM product?
Not necessarily. Improvements may be possible through existing identity capabilities and better operating practices. Any tooling recommendation should follow the assessment of your requirements and current environment.
Does Entra ID Privileged Identity Management cover every privileged account?
Its scope is specific to supported roles and resources. Wider privileged access needs, including local, on-premises and other service accounts, require separate assessment.
Can hardening lock people out?
Identity changes can affect access and dependent services. Representative testing, phased rollout and protected recovery arrangements are part of the implementation plan.
What is privileged access management?
Privileged access management (PAM) controls, monitors and audits the accounts that can change systems, data and security settings. It typically covers credential vaulting, just-in-time access, strong authentication, session monitoring and secrets management.
Reduce the risk in your most powerful accounts.
Build a clear view of identity exposure and agree a practical route to stronger access controls.
