Incident Response

Keep running. Recover with confidence.

When a cyber attack, outage or supplier failure hits, you need to keep critical services going and restore technology safely. Cybergen brings business continuity and disaster recovery together into one tested plan.

Two disciplines, one plan

Business continuity and disaster recovery

They are often treated separately. In a real incident they have to work together.

BUSINESS CONTINUITY

Keep the business running

How critical services continue during disruption: people, processes, workarounds, suppliers, communications and decision making.

  • Business impact analysis
  • Continuity plans and workarounds
  • Crisis management and communications
DISASTER RECOVERY

Restore the technology

How systems, data and infrastructure are recovered safely and in the right order after an outage or attack.

  • Recovery objectives (RTO and RPO)
  • Backup and replication design
  • Runbooks and recovery testing
Why it matters

Disruption is a matter of when, not if

of breaches analysed in 2025 involved ransomware

0%

of UK businesses reported a cyber security breach or attack in the last year

0%

of breaches involved a third party, such as a supplier

Business impact analysis

Know what matters most, and how fast

A business impact analysis identifies your critical services, the impact of losing them over time and the people, systems and suppliers they depend on. It sets the recovery priorities everything else is built on.

  • Critical services and maximum tolerable downtime
  • Dependencies on people, technology and suppliers
  • Agreed recovery time and recovery point objectives
Recovery tiers

Match recovery speed to business impact

Faster recovery costs more. Move the slider to compare approaches. We help you choose the right tier for each service.

Backup and restore

Systems rebuilt and data restored from backup. Lowest cost, recovery measured in days.

Scaled-down environment ready to take over. Recovery measured in hours.

Hot standby

Fully running duplicate environment with continuous replication. Recovery in minutes.

Ransomware-resilient backups

Backups attackers cannot reach

Modern ransomware targets backups first. We design and test backup strategies that survive an attack, following the 3-2-1-1-0 approach.

Recovery testing

A plan is only as good as its last test

1Plan walkthrough

Review the plan with owners to confirm it is current and complete.

2Tabletop exercise

Rehearse decisions and coordination against a realistic scenario.

3Component recovery test

Restore individual systems or data sets and measure the time taken.

4Full recovery test

Recover critical services end to end, proving objectives can be met.

BC and DR FAQ

Your questions, answered

Can't see your question? Ask our team.

What is the difference between business continuity and disaster recovery?

Business continuity keeps critical business services running during disruption. Disaster recovery restores the technology, systems and data those services depend on. Both need to work together.

What are RTO and RPO?

The recovery time objective (RTO) is how quickly a service must be restored. The recovery point objective (RPO) is how much data, measured in time, you can afford to lose.

Will backups protect us from ransomware?

Only if attackers cannot reach or delete them and restores have been tested. Immutable or offline copies and regular restore testing are essential.

How often should we test our plans?

Most organisations test at least annually and after significant changes. Critical services may need more frequent recovery testing.

Can you help us achieve ISO 22301?

Yes. We can help you build and prepare a business continuity management system for ISO 22301 certification.
