Why it matters

Know where your defences stand

Strong security starts with an honest view of what is already in place. Controls may have developed around individual projects, suppliers or urgent fixes, leaving gaps that are difficult to see from day-to-day operations.

Our Cyber Security Review gives you a structured starting point. We assess agreed areas of your environment, review how essential controls operate and explain where weaknesses could affect your people, information and services. You receive clear priorities that reflect your business context, rather than a long list of disconnected recommendations.

Two-minute self-check

How confident are you in your baseline?

Six quick questions, one for each area we review. Nothing is sent or stored.

01Do you have an up-to-date list of your devices, cloud services and internet-facing systems?
02Is multi-factor authentication enforced on every admin and remote access account?
03Are security updates applied promptly, with no unsupported systems left running?
04Do staff know how to report a suspicious message, and does someone act on reports?
05Would someone notice and escalate a security alert at 2am on a Sunday?
06Have you restored a critical system from backup in the last 12 months?
What the service covers

Six areas. One clear baseline.

AREA 01

Asset and exposure visibility

Review how devices, applications, cloud services and important information are identified and owned. Establish where visibility is incomplete and which externally accessible services need closer attention.

AREA 02

Identity and access

Review account administration, multi-factor authentication, privileged access and joiner, mover and leaver processes. Identify unnecessary access and weaknesses that could make account compromise more damaging.

AREA 03

Secure configuration and updates

Assess selected endpoint, server, network and cloud configuration practices. Review how updates and known vulnerabilities are managed, including unsupported systems and recurring exceptions.

AREA 04

Email and user protection

Examine the controls and working practices that help protect staff from malicious messages, unsafe sharing and credential theft. Review how users report concerns and receive support.

AREA 05

Monitoring and incident readiness

Review available security logging, alert ownership and response arrangements. Establish whether the right people would recognise an incident and know how to escalate it.

AREA 06

Backup and recovery

Review backup coverage, access controls and evidence of recovery testing for agreed services. Identify assumptions about restoration that need to be tested before an outage.

What you receive

From findings to a plan people own

  • A baseline findings register with evidence, affected areas and prioritised actions.
  • A practical improvement plan distinguishing immediate actions from longer-term work.
  • A findings workshop to agree owners, dependencies and next steps.

Cyber Security Review FAQ

Your questions, answered

Can't see your question? Ask our team.

Is this a penetration test?

No. This is a broad review of essential security controls. Penetration testing actively tests agreed systems for exploitable weaknesses and can be commissioned separately where the review identifies a need.

Is this the same as a maturity assessment?

The review establishes a practical baseline of core controls. A maturity assessment examines how consistently security capabilities are governed, delivered and improved against an agreed framework and target state.

Do we need a large internal security team?

No. We work with the people who understand your business and technology, including your IT provider where appropriate. The review scope reflects your size, complexity and priorities.
